Israeli Arab rams vehicle into pedestrians, wounds three

An Israeli Arab has rammed his vehicle into pedestrians in the northern part of Israel yesterday, in what police said was a suspected act of terror. Three Israelis were injured in the incident and were taken to the Nahariya medical center for treatment. Two of them were identified as IDF soldiers that sustained light injuries, while a third was identified as a border police officer that was moderately wounded. “The incident began at around 11:30 when we got reports of an attempted… or that there was a hit of security personnel. What happened before, or what led to this event — these are exactly what we are examining now,” Israeli Chief of Acre Police said Yaniv Ronen said.

A hospital official told TV7 that the driver was shot several times, sustaining moderate to serious condition. A police statement determined that findings indicated a nationalistically motivated act of terror, as the driver – a 26-year-old Arab Israeli from the north of the country – deliberately rammed his vehicle into the military servicemen. That said, the statement emphasized that an investigation is still ongoing by both the police and Israeli security services.
