Israeli man killed in suspected terror attack near a West Bank outpost ‘Havat Gilad’

An Israeli man was killed last night when unknown assailants opened fire at his vehicle, near the West Bank village of Sarra, which is situated West of the Palestinian city of Nablus. Israeli security officials told TV7 that the attackers opened fire from a passing vehicle, targeting the victim’s car with a barrage of bullets, before fleeing the scene. The victim was evacuated to the Meir Medical Center in the Israeli city of Kfar Saba in critical condition, where the head of the trauma unit was forced to pronounce his death. Dr. Guy Elad said, “We received a man aged about 32, suffering gunshot wounds to the chest. During his evacuation by ambulance he lost vital signs, he lost his pulse and stopped breathing on the way. When he arrived here we continued with advanced resuscitation. Despite our efforts his wounds were bad, and we had to pronounce his death,” he said.

The victim was identified as Rabbi Raziel Shevah, a 35-year-old father of six children and a resident of a West Bank outpost in the Samaria regional council called ‘Havat Gilad’, which is deemed illegal under Israeli law. Samaria regional council head Yossi Dagan, following the announcement of Rabbi Sheva’s death, declared that the people of Israel will continue to fight, what he termed as: the Palestinian Authority’s cowardly acts of terrorism, and will ultimately emerge victorious in the battle for the lands of Israel.

following the shooting attack, Israeli Security forces launched a massive operation across the Samaria region of the West Bank. The security forces placed a blockade on the city of Nablus and conducted sweeps to find the terrorists, responsible for the murder of Rabbi Shevah. The decision was made to call in reinforcements to the West Bank, in light of a situation assessment by the Military’s top echelons.

Meanwhile, a violent riot involving about 100 Palestinians broke out during an IDF operation in the West Bank city of Jericho. The Palestinian rioters hurled cinder blocks at the Israeli troops and burned garbage bins and tires, while the Israeli forces responded with crowd dispersal means.

In the city of Hebron, Israeli security forces uncovered and confiscated thousands of shekels’ worth of funds, which Israel’s Security services alleged, “where aimed to be used in financing terrorism.” During the raids in the city of Hebron, Israeli security forces arrested 11 Palestinian individuals that were wanted for alleged involvement in “terrorist activities” and in “popular terrorism and violent riots.”
