Palestinian Islamists in Gaza launched several rockets toward the southern communities of Israel. One rocket exploded in an open area in the Eshkol regional council, while two other rockets exploded within the territory of the Gaza Strip. No injuries or damage were reported. The IDF responded to the rocket fire by launching a combined attack, from both land and air, reportedly destroying two militant facilities bellowing to the Islamist Hamas organization. The Popular Resistance Committees claimed responsibility for the rocket fire and called it retaliation for the United States recognizing Jerusalem as the capital of Israel.
