Palestinian President Abbas is willing to meet Netanyahu in Washington at “any time”

Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas announced that he is willing to meet Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu in Washington at “any time” under the patronage of US President Donald Trump. The Palestinian leader said, in an interview to the Japanese Asahi Shimbun newspaper before traveling to Washington for a meeting with his American counterpart, that he is committed to pursue a negotiated settlement with Israel, which ultimately would conclude the decades old conflict. The meeting between Abbas and Trump, which is scheduled for the third of May, will be the last in a series of meetings the US President has held with Arab leaders before an expected announcement by Washington on a Presidential plan that would set the discourse of the anticipated negotiations.
