PM Netanyahu: Regional powers seek to enrich uranium

Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu returned to Israel today from his five-day trip to the United States. At his last stop in New York city ahead of his departure, the Israeli leader visited the United Nations headquarters, where an exhibit that presents 3,000 years of Jewish contiguity in Jerusalem. “This exhibit would not have been possible 10 years ago. And this exhibit will be unnecessary 10 years from now. We are changing the world. We are changing Israel’s position in the world and above all, we’re making it clear that we fight for the truth and for our rights. We also fight for security,” Netanyahu said.

On the matter of security, Prime Minister Netanyahu has once again indicated the Islamic republic of Iran as the most dangerous threat Israel faces today. Furthermore, the Prime Minister noted a worrying trend, in which regional powers have requested to enrich uranium. The Israeli leader stressed that the main reason behind their request was because the international community granted Iran the right to enrich uranium under the nuclear agreement. “Iran not merely wishes to extinguish our history, it wishes to extinguish our present and our future, and we will not let that happen. I was asked in Washington what is Israel’s position on the requests of countries to enrich uranium. Countries in the Middle East. And I said, ‘Why is it that they want to enrich uranium?’ And they said that the reason that they’re asking to enrich uranium is because Iran has received the right to enrich uranium under the dubious nuclear agreement. The best way to prevent the nuclearization of the Middle East is to either fully fix the Iran deal, or fully nix it. This is the only way to prevent the inevitable spread of nuclear technology and nuclear weapons into the Middle East. While we fight for our security, we remember our rights. There is no better place to see our rights and the truth than right here in the hall of the United Nations where we speak the truth and where we speak about the justice of Jerusalem,” Netanyahu said.

Among the countries that seek to enrich uranium are Iran’s main regional rival Saudi Arabi, Egypt, Jordan, the United Arab Emirates and Turkey.
