Ambassador Dermer: Israel is looking forward to working with the Trump Administration

Israeli Ambassador to the United States Ron Dermer said that Israel had no doubt that US president-elect Donald Trump would be a true friend. The Israeli diplomat, who met with the President-elect at the Trump Tower in New York, stressed that the Jewish state was looking forward to working with all members of Donald Trump’s administration, including his senior advisor Steve Bannon who was accused of promoting anti-Semitic and racist opinions against Jews, among others.

“I have just wanted to say that Israel has no doubts that President-elect Donald Trump is a true friend of Israel. We have no doubts that the Vice President-elect Mike Pence is a true friend of Israel, he is one of Israel’s greatest friends in the Congress, one of the most pro-Israel governors in the country. We look forward to working with the Trump administration, with all the members of the Trump administration including Steve Bannon, in making the US-Israel alliance stronger than ever,” said Dermer.

Even though the meeting in New York was set to be between the Israeli ambassador and President-Elect Donald Trump; the spokesman for the Israeli embassy in Washington refused to say whether Dermer met with Trump himself or just with members of his team.
