IAF: Downed F-16i fighter-jet crew made a professional error

Following a thorough investigation, the Israeli Air Force concluded that the crew of the F-16i fighter-jet that was hit during an airstrike in Syria two weeks ago, had made a professional error by failing to defend themselves properly from the threat of missiles and deciding to carry on with their mission. The report, which was submitted to IDF Chief of Staff Lieutenant General Gadi Eisenkot last night, said that the warning systems in the F-16i were functioning properly and had provided a warning in time, but that the pilot and navigator did not act in accordance with the requisite priorities. That said, the report found that the pilot’s decision to eject after the plane had been hit was correct and saved their lives.
