Iran approves additional budget for its ballistic missile program

In response to new sanctions imposed by the United States on the Islamic Republic, the Iranian Parliament approved a bill to increase its budget for the country’s missile program and for the Revolutionary Guard. The Iranian decision was made in response to recent legislation in the US Congress that was approved by President Donald Trump to impose new sanctions on Iran, in response to its ballistic missile program, which Washington perceives as a clear violation of “the spirit of the nuclear agreement”, considering the fact that the Iranian ballistic missiles have the capability of carrying a nuclear payload. Iran, however, vehemently denies that its missile program was a violation of the nuclear agreement it signed with the world powers in July of 2015, which calls on Iran to refrain from any actions that would advance its nuclear capabilities.
