Israel’s Defense Minister criticizes the world’s indifference to the chemical attack in Syria

Israeli Defense Minister Avigdor Lieberman denounced the chemical weapons attacks on civilians in the Idlib region of Syria, laying the blame on Syrian President Bashar Assad, who he claimed, ‘gave the order for the attack’. In an interview to Israel’s Yedioth Ahronoth daily, the Israeli top defense official also attacked the indifference of the world in the face of the chemical attack, which he declared, ‘bolstered his conclusion, in which Israel must rely only on itself,’ in the face of ongoing regional atrocities.

Minister Lieberman asserted that “The word ‘peace’ is not relevant to the Middle East,” claiming that the reality in the chaotic Middle East can only bring about regional arrangements, but not to peace.” Lieberman said that the situation in Syria is the responsibility of the international community, and instead of just talking, must take concrete actions to change the situation in the war-torn-country.
