Jordan’s king is first Middle Eastern leader to meet Trump

US President Donald Trump met last night with Jordan’s King Abdullah. There was no immediate information provided about what Trump and the Jordanian King discussed, as their meeting was closed to the media. The meeting between the two leaders was held before an annual prayer breakfast in Washington, were King Abdullah and his wife, Queen Rania, were seated next to US Secretary of State Rex Tillerson. Abdullah, the first Arab leader to hold talks with the new administration, had earlier in the week discussed regional challenges, in a meeting with Vice President Mike Pence, including the fight against the Islamic State, the Syria crisis, and the Jordanian rejection to a promise that will see the US embassy in Israel moved from Tel Aviv to Jerusalem.
