President Putin warns U.S. of counterproductive actions vis-à-vis Israeli-Palestinian peace efforts

Russian President Vladimir Putin concluded an official state visit to Egypt, during which he held meetings with his Egyptian counterpart Abdel Fattah al-Sisi. Following their meeting, the Russian leader signaled a warning to Washington, in which he stressed that any steps that pre-empt a possible agreement between Israel and the Palestinians are counter productive and destabilizing to the already chaotic region.

During his visit to Egypt, Putin signed a deal with al-Sisi that advances a bilateral plan to construct a nuclear reactor, but disappointed his hosts by delaying the resumption of direct flights between the two countries, that after the 2015 bombing of a Russian passenger plane by Islamist terrorists linked to the Sinai-branch of the Islamic State.
