US-Israel Defense MOU takes into effect

The defense memorandum of understanding, MOU, that was signed between Israel and the United States, went into effect today, granting Israel 3.8 billion dollars in aid per year, for the next decade. U.S. State Department Spokesperson Heather Nauert released a statement in which she declared the historic MOU as reflecting the enduring and unshakable commitment of President Donald Trump, the U.S. administration and the American people to Israel’s security, as well as the bipartisan nature of that commitment. The statement by the U.S. State Department further reaffirmed the “Israel’s right to self-defense,” and stressed that the MOU is a concrete demonstration of Washington’s “commitment to Israel’s capacity to defend itself with a qualitative military edge over all potential regional adversaries.”
