Amb. Haley: Palestinian aid subject to their attitude to the U.S.

The U.S. Ambassador to the United Nations Nikki Haley said, at a summit of the Foundation for Defense of Democracies, that neither the Palestinian leadership, nor UNRWA, can expect for continue U.S. aid, as long as they continue to preach and teach anti-American sentiments. “When you look at UNRWA there is a couple of issues there, first of all you look at the fact that yes there is a number of endless refugees there that continue to get assistance, but more importantly the Palestinians continue to bash America”/ “They have there hand out wanting UNRWA money, we were supposed to, the last time, give them a 130 million, we cut it in half saying the really needed to reform because they teach anti-Israeli and Anti American things in their text books, they are not necessary doing things that would cause peace, it is very political, so instead of the 130 million we gave them 60 millions, they didn’t say thank you. UNRWA had them protest in the streets that we didn’t give more,” US Ambassador to the UN Nikki Haley said.

When asked whether she thought it would be good to integrate UNRWA into the main Refugees agency of the United Nations, Haley emphasized that unless UNRWA advances in implementing crucially needed reform, integrating one flawed agency into another does not fix the problem. “I am not for potting that in, UNRWA can stay there and we can be a donor if it reforms what it does, if it goes in and make sure that they are not doing those teaching and text books, if they actually change the number of refugees to an accurate account, we will look back at partnering with them, but otherwise you are just molding an organization that has flaws into another organization and that’s not fixing the problem and I think we have to go further than that,” Haley said.
