Iran conducts advanced torpedo missile testing in the strait of Hormuz

According to various reports, the Islamic Republic conducted an advanced torpedo missile test near the Strait of Hormuz, the only sea passage from the Persian Gulf to the Open Ocean, where about 20% of the world’s petroleum, passes on a daily basis. According to senior security officials, the Iranian experiment was conducted within Iran’s maritime borders, thus, it did not violate international law. Nevertheless, security experts who monitor the situation consider the test to be yet another Iranian provocation, amid the increasing tension between Washington and Tehran, since President Trump took office, earlier this year. The advanced missile that was tested has a range of more than nine-and-a-half kilometers and can travel at a speed if 400 kilometers per hour. It remains unclear whether the testing of the advanced torpedo was successful.
