Israel urges French mayors to prohibit pro-Palestinian groups from holding ‘Israeli Apartheid week’

The Israeli embassy in Paris asked the mayors of nine large cities in France to prohibit pro-Palestinian organizations, including the BDS movement, from holding next week events in which they declare Israel as an Apartheid state, with anti-Israeli activities. Israel’s Ambassador to France Aliza Bin-Nun wrote to the mayors that there was concern of disturbances and incitement to hatred and violence against Israel and the Jewish communities in France. Israeli Apartheid Week events are planned in Paris, Lyon, Marseilles and six other cities and include conferences, exhibitions and screenings of anti-Israel films. It is important to know that under French law, boycotting Israel is prohibited.
