Israel’s DM and Russian FM talk on phone, discuss Syria and regional peace efforts

Israeli Defense Minister Avigdor Lieberman held a phone conversation with Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov this morning, during which the two Ministers discussed various regional challenges, including the ongoing efforts by Moscow to establish a political process to the almost six-years conflict in Syria, between the Assad regime and rebels. Minister Lavrov also raised during the conversation with Minister Lieberman the possibility of restarting peace negotiations between Israel and the Palestinians, asserting Moscow’s desire to partake an active role in resolving the decades old conflict. Lieberman and Lavrov agreed to continue their discussion on the side-lines of the Munich Security Conference, that is scheduled to take place later this month.
