Netanyahu stressed that his government will advance equal enforcement of the law in Israel among Jews and Arabs alike. The decision to accelerate the demolition of illegal construction in Israel’s Arab sector was made public moments after the Amona settlers had rejected the eviction plan, a fact which political experts say “raises the suspicion that this is a media spin by Netanyahu designed to tone down the anger against him among his right-wing followers.” Sources close to the Prime Minister, however, rejected this suggestion, saying that the issue had been under discussion for a long time.
