Netanyahu: “over 80% of all security challenges Israel faces today, originates from Iran”

Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu reiterated a warning he voiced for many years, that the Islamic Republic of Iran continues to aspire nuclear weapons, in defiance of the international community, as part of its greater vision of “planting its flag upon the ruins of the free world.” “Iran aspires to acquire nuclear weapons, it advances its ballistic missile program in defiance of UN Security Council resolutions and creates instability in the entire region surrounding us. The regime in Tehran aspires to plant its flag upon the ruins of the free world and continues to threat Israel with annihilation,” said Netanyahu.

Netanyahu spoke during a memorial ceremony, commemorating the 25th anniversary of the 1992 terror attack on Israel’s embassy in Argentina, which killed, in a suicide bombing, 29 people and wounded 242 others. The Islamic Jihad Organization that  claimed responsibility following the attack, was identified by an American court in 2003 as a name the Iranian-proxy Hezbollah uses for its attacks outside of Lebanon, while a former CIA operative described the organization as the cover name used by the ‘Iranian Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps’, prompting Israel’s leader to attribute full responsibility for the attack to the Islamic Republic of Iran. Netanyahu further revealed, that as it was in the past, Iran continues to pose the most significant threat to the Jewish state, citing a report by an Israeli security official who estimates that over 80% of all security challenges Israel faces today, originates from Iran.

“One of our Security officials estimates that over eighty percent of our fundamental security challenges originate in Iran. We do not deter… we are building our power.” / we will continue to stand-firm with determination against Iran’s aggression and its proxies,” Added Israel’s leader.

Netanyahu, who is scheduled to travel to Moscow on Thursday with the aim of persuading President Vladimir Putin to assist Israel in preserving its security interests in Syria, stressing Jerusalem’s determination to prevent Iran from tightening its grip in the war-torn-country, while emphasized Israel’s resolve to do all in its power to enforce its red lines – to thwart Iranian proxies to acquire and mobilize advanced weaponry next to Israel’s borders, a reality that would see the military balance shifted.

“We are determined to prevent Iran from tightening its grip on Syria both on the ground and in the sea. In the same manner, we will strongly oppose to the presence of Shi’ite militias amongst us, or near us, including the armament of Hezbollah with dangerous weapons. Our thick lines, our red lines, are both thick and clear, and we do not hesitate to act to enforce them,” stressed Nnetanyahu.

The Israeli Prime Minister took the opportunity to urge the international community to join forces in combating the growing threat posed by Iran, including its far reaching ‘arm of terror’ that must be confronted immediately. “I recommend that every state understands that nobody is immune to terror, and that we must join hands in the struggle against it,” concluded Netanyahu.
