Severe travel warnings for Israelis as holiday season nears

Ahead of the Passover holiday, the director of the Counter-Terrorism Bureau warns Israelis not to visit Turkey and the Sinai Peninsula. He told people already at those locations, to leave as quick as possible. While Turkey is considered a secondary threat, the threat for Sinai is defined as extreme. The travel advisory mentions concern of terror attacks and of kidnappings, with an emphasis on countries in which the Islamic State has branches: Turkey, Egypt and Jordan. The bureau also stressed that Jihadi figures were highly motivated at this time to commit terror attacks in Europe, Russia and India, as well. The Bureau emphasized that “The greater the distress in the Islamic State, the more it will try to commit terror attacks throughout the world and in every possible place,” primarily against Christians and Jews.
