China’s ambassador to Israel Du Wei was found dead in his official residence in Tel Aviv yesterday.
Police informed TV7 that an Israeli ambulance was called to evacuate the Chinese diplomat’s body and that an investigation has been launched into the circumstances of his death.
According to domestic reports, the initial assessment is that the Chinese Ambassador died in his sleep of natural causes.
Chinese Ministry of Foreign Affairs Spokesman Zhao Lijian said “The preliminary judgment is that Ambassador Du Wei died unexpectedly due to health reasons, but the details still need further verifications. We express our deep condolences over Ambassador Du’s death and sincere sympathy to his family. The Foreign Ministry has been doing its best to deal with the aftermath.”
