The city of Tel Aviv-Yafo shows solidarity with London’s terror victims

Tel Aviv-Yafo Municipality lit up an electronic screen with changing images of the Israeli flag and the flag of the United Kingdom, in show of solidarity with the victims of the London terror attack.

Israel has dealt with similar attacks in the recent wave of street violence, in which Palestinian assailants committed acts of terror through stabbing, car ramming and shooting attacks, claiming the lives of 37 Israelis and two visiting American tourists, since October of 2015. Residents of Tel Aviv who stopped to see the projection on the city’s municipality building said they understood the horror the British people have experienced in this heinous attack, while voicing hope that this terrible incident in London would make the British people realize and understand Israel too.  “I think it is an amazing gesture of Tel Aviv to do such thing like that. I think now people in London, in England, can feel how we feel almost everyday, when we have a lot of terror attacks here in Israel. We never get support and we always get the blame, and now they can see that we also live in some sort of fear, and we want to get the mutual support, like we support them and we put a huge flag in the middle of Tel Aviv, to support them and Tel Aviv is here to support, and I hope next time when something will happen to us, they will know how to appreciate it and to support us as well,” Gabriel Valro a Resident of Tel Aviv said.

“I will not comment at this stage at the identity of the attacker, but our working assumption is that he was inspired by international terrorism. I should also say at this stage, that we believe now approximately 40 people have been injured, including several with serious injuries, including three police officers, two of whom are in serious condition. Our investigation continues and is moving at a very fast pace this evening, we’ll be working throughout the night. We have hundreds of officers on this investigation and they’re focusing on the suspect’s motivation, preparation and his associates,” Tamar Melech a Resident of Tel Aviv said.

The terror attack in London was the deadliest attack in the English capital since four British Islamists killed 52 commuters in suicide bombings on the city’s transport system in July of 2005.
