Team powers through busy week despite health issues – Behind the Scenes at TV7 Israel

TV7’s Jerusalem office operated at full capacity this week despite the absence of our intrepid VP of Operations, Yair Pinto, who instead worked remotely while recuperating from successful leg surgery.

The office wasn’t the same without him – but as we all know, the show(s) must go on!

Monday morning saw a particularly busy schedule of taping: our monthly analysis shows “Middle East Review,” “Powers in Play,” two episodes of the latest “Watchman Talk” series, as well as the latest edition of Jerusalem Studio.

Middle East Review featured regular hosts Ambassador Danny Ayalon and Colonel (Res.) Dr. Eran Lerman. Ayalon served as Israeli Ambassador to the United States and Deputy Foreign Minister, and he is also a Lecturer at New York University. Dr. Lerman is the former Israeli Deputy National Security Advisor, who is currently the Vice President of the Jerusalem Institute for Strategy and Security and a Lecturer at Shalem College in Jerusalem.

Discussion focused on the rising tensions between Iran and Israel, as well as the other leading nations in the region. Regular viewers of our programming will recognize the value of such analysis and be sure to watch when the episode is posted on our YouTube channel on 27 November.

The pilot of TV7 Powers in Play enjoyed a big launch in October, and we are pleased to welcome back the same guest contributors for the first official episode  broadcast on 26 November.

TV7 Editor-at-Large and host of TV7 Watchmen Talk Amir Oren led discussion on what recent international developments – ranging from the global economy to the environment – could portend for the future; with particular emphasis on how Israel will be impacted now and going forward.

Amb. Ayalon and Dr. Lerman joined additional panelists from Reichman University’s Institute for Counter-Terrorism: Israeli Public Diplomacy, Security, Intelligence expert Colonel (Res.) Miri Eisin and Cross-Cultural Strategist and Associate Colonel (Res.) Reuven Ben-Shalom.

The upcoming Watchman Talk programs feature special guest Rear Admiral Daniel Hagari, who spent most of his military career in the Shayetet 13 naval commando unit. After rising through the ranks, Adm. Hagari became commander of this elite division, which is comparable to the US Navy SEALS, before being promoted to his current position as the Senior Operations Staff Officer under Israel’s Navy Chief.

His story, as he told Watchman Talk host Amir Oren, is that of the modern Israeli Navy – and the vitally important but rarely heralded work it does to protect the Jewish State from the myriad of threats directed from the seas.

Regular viewers of Watchman Talk won’t want to miss Part I and II on 4 and 5 December respectively, to gain insight into how the country’s naval forces support Israeli society in other important and fascinating ways.

The latest topic of Jerusalem Studio, focusing on Israel’s ongoing dramatic relationship with Turkey amid pressures and competing interests of regional and global powers, will be aired on 30 November.

In addition to producing daily TV7 Israel News broadcasts, Editor-in-Chief Jonathan Hessen on Thursday taped an episode with Co-Host Amir Tsarfati of TV7 Times Observer, taking a look at current events through the lens of Scripture.

The program will be posted on our YouTube channel 28 November, providing our loyal audience with the unique analysis of current events combined with Biblical insights on which many around the world have come to rely to guide their prayers for the peace of Jerusalem.

The entire TV7 crew expressed hope that all those who celebrated Thanksgiving enjoyed a blessed and happy holiday with their loved ones.

We would also like to thank everyone who continues to lift up our staff here in Jerusalem in prayer, particularly for Yair’s continued recovery.

We look forward to another week of serving you.
