Syria’s army and Iranian militias step up military efforts against rebels

While the United Nations, together with Western powers, repeatedly call for a ceasefire that will allow humanitarian aid to reach devastated areas across the war-torn-country, Syria’s army together with Iranian-backed militias, have been stepping up military efforts to subdue rebel-held territories. According to the latest reports from Syria, two main fronts are subject to constant air-raids and bombardments, including Eastern Ghouta that is located east the Damascus, and Idlib province that is located in the northwestern part of the country. While human rights agencies accused the Syrian government of killing almost 350 civilians in Eastern Ghouta since the fourth of February, a Syrian source told TV7 that the government offensive came as a response to a dramatic escalation of rebel fire toward the capital Damascus that resulted in the death of 15 civilians.
