Palestinian factions seek reconciliation to thwart Israeli normalization with the Arab world

Senior delegations from the Gaza-based Islamist Hamas and West Bank-based Fatah factions held an extensive meeting, which focused on finding a viable foundation for reconciliation, derived from a common-goal – to thwart Israeli normalization with the Arab and Muslim world. Following this meeting, the rival Palestinian factions released a statement which read, ((quote)) “Hamas and Fatah reiterated their commitment to joint and unified work to defend their people’s rights and interests and face off all plots targeting the Palestinian cause until gaining full independence and establishing the independent Palestinian state with Jerusalem as its capital.” Furthermore, Hamas and Fatah also expressed their gratitude to Turkey’s President Recep Tayyip Erdogan for hosting this meeting on Turkish soil.
