Iran calls for Palestinians and Islamic nations to unite

Hamas Political Chief Ismail Haniyeh received a phone call from Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif last night, who conveyed his nation’s continued support for Palestinian aspirations.

Tehran’s top diplomat also reportedly asserted that the US Mideast Peace Plan rejected by his own government serve as a “chance to unite the Palestinian people together with the Arab and Islamic nations” in their battle against Israel.

The conversation took place in the hours after a tweet by the Islamic Republic’s Supreme leader Ali Khamenei that the launching of an Islamic Jihad is the only path to defeat U.S. President Donald Trump’s so-called “Deal of the Century.” The post read: “What’s the remedy? It is bold resistance by the Palestinian nation & groups in order to force out the Zionist enemy & the U.S. through Jihad. All Muslim nations & the world of Islam must support them too.”

Khamenei also warned “The Palestinian armed organizations will stand & continue to resist. Fortunately, this resistance in W Asia is not limited to Palestine & encompasses a vast area & will grow daily,” while underscoring that “Iran considers it its duty to support Palestinians & will help them in any way it can.”
