A knife-weilding Palestinian was shot and killed over the weekend, after he rushed toward Israeli security forces at a checkpoint near the West Bank city of Tulkarem.
According to the Israeli Defense Ministry, the assailant ran towards the military crossing “with the apparent intention of attacking security personnel.” An initial investigation indicated that the Israeli troops ordered the suspect to halt, and that he was only “fired toward and neutralized” after “his failure to do so.”
The Palestinian Health Ministry identified the perpetrator as a Palestinian national and confirmed that he died of his wounds, but failed to provide further details.
