Pompeo: Time Ticking on Iranian Sanctions

U.S. Secretary of State Mike Pompeo has called on the international community to take action ahead of the scheduled expiration of critical United Nations-imposed sanctions on Iran.

In a statement posted on Twitter by the top American diplomat, Pompeo underscored: “The clock is ticking. Time remaining before the U.N. arms embargo on Iran expires and Qasem Soleimani’s travel ban ends.” As such, Secretary Pompeo urged Washington’s “allies and partners to increase the pressure on the Iranian regime until it stops its destabilizing behavior.”

Among others, the commander of the Islamic Revolutionary Guards elite Quds Force will be allowed to travel from the 18th of October 2020. Soon after, the Iranian regime will also be free to sell weapons to anyone, including terrorist proxies; and countries like Russia and China will be able to sell the Iranian regime tanks, missiles, and air defense equipment without much needed international scrutiny.
