Syria alleges 2nd IDF strike in 4 days

The Israeli enemy on Wednesday at dawn launched an aerial aggression with missiles targeting one of the posts in Damascus Countryside,” said a Syrian military source cited by state media.

The Syrian Arab News Agency (SANA) reported that the attack occurred “at about 02:58 a.m. today” when missiles fired “from the direction of northern occupied Palestine” targeted a site in the Zakyia, resulting in “only material damage.”

An intelligence source who spoke to TV7 on condition of anonymity said the “targets struck were situated in an area known as a staging ground for smuggling operations.”

Local sources reported that ‘warehouses belonging to Iranian (proxy) militias were destroyed’ and ‘secondary explosions were observed from afar.’

The IDF Spokesperson’s Unit did not in response to TV7’s request for comment.

Aerial defense systems failed to respond to the attack, although the Syrian Armed Forces claimed the country’s air defenses successfully “repelled” a similar strike on 30 October, in which 2 soldiers were injured and other “material damage” was sustained. The London-based Syrian Observatory for Human Rights (SOHR) reported, however, that “at least 5 pro-Iranian fighters were killed and several injured” when multiple incoming projectiles “destroyed a Hezbollah convoy” of “Iranian weapons and ammunition heading for Lebanon.” The targeted site is known to house arms depots belonging to Hezbollah and other Iranian proxies, as well as Syrian army bases, said SOHR.

While Jerusalem has acknowledged near-weekly attacks on Iranian targets to prevent its military entrenchment in Syria, Lebanon and elsewhere throughout the region, the IDF Spokesperson’s Unit neither confirmed nor denied involvement in today’s attack following a request for comment from TV7.

Iran-backed forces in Syria vowed a forceful response to an alleged Israeli strike on Syria’s Homs Province  on 13 October, which also marked the second such attack within a week.  At least 1 Syrian soldier and 3 others wounded when unidentified aircraft struck multiple Iranian-proxy installations west of Palmyra city.
