Attempted-terror attack in Jerusalem

A female Islamist attempted to stab a pedestrian on the city’s popular Haas-Sherover Promenade in the Armon Hanatsiv neighbood of Jerusalem overlooking the Old City of David. According to eyewitness reports, the assailant was screaming “Allahu Akbar,” Arabic for ‘God is Great.’

An Israeli citizen immediately overpowered the assailant, whom he kept subdued until security forces arrived at the scene and she was placed under arrest. No injuries were reported.

In other violence, the brief lull in terror-related activities from the Hamas-controlled Gaza Strip ended today with the landing of several clusters of explosives-rigged balloons in a densely-populated neighborhood of Ashkelon. Police sappers were dispatched to several locations in the  southern city to detonate the devices, and no injuries or damage were reported.

The national Israeli police are urging the public remain vigilant and to immediately dial the country’s emergency 100 hotline if any suspicious objects have been detected, as well as maintain a safe distance away.
